Home at Last!!

I am very happy to be able to announce that Gordon is finally coming home on Saturday!!!!  Seems like an entire season has past since he was last here.  And, I guess in reality it really has.  On one hand it doesn't seem possible that his surgery was 6 1/2 weeks ago....but on the other hand, our family has been through so much since February 12....ups and downs, good days and really really bad days.  It is truly a miracle that he is still with us and is actually coming home.

Unfortunately, he still has some surgery in his future.  We will most likely be making a trip to Mayo Clinic in the not to distant future.  As most of you know, his surgery this time had to be aborted because when they went to open him up, his heart was attached to the inside of his rib cage (due to all the scar tissue from previous surgeries).  He ended up with a hole in his heart because of all of it.  While they were successful in saving him....which was extremely touch and go for awhile...they were not able to correct what they set out to do.  Thus, the trip to Mayo Clinic.

It's time like these that I am so grateful for my knitting/crocheting.  It has helped to keep my mind from wandering too far into what could have happened.  It puts me in a "happy place" and calms my nerves.  Without my knitting/crocheting, I would have truly gone bonkers......at least more bonkers than I already have as some would say.  I have always said that knitting/crocheting soothes my soul and keeps me grounded and it truly has once again.  And while most people would never understand that.....I know that all of you will!!

Thank you everyone for your continued thoughts, prayers and well wishes over the last several weeks.  It is truly appreciated. I will continue to keep you posted as we learn what steps are next.
